The Police Commissioner of Prince Edward Island is an independent statutory office with a mission to investigate and resolve public complaints of unprofessional conduct against police, other than RCMP, in a timely, fair, reasonable, and impartial manner.

Thomas Jarmyn has been appointed as Prince Edward Island’s new police commissioner and began in this new role on October 2, 2018. Commissioner Jarmyn is a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. He practiced law in Nova Scotia and Ontario and also served as counsel to the federal minister of public safety. More recently, he moved to Prince Edward Island to chair the Federal Veterans Review and Appeal Board, a role he concluded on July 1, 2018. Read the release
